Please Help, Videocard problem

my videocard has some problems (overheating I think) and when id play SL after a few minutes my whole PC would crash. But then I booted up SL once, went to the preferences and ran the game in a window instead of fullscreen and SL would work.

So then I couldn't leave well enough alone and I went to the preferences again and turned some shader on. Now SL boots up but there is no graphics no nothing.

So I tried reinstaling SL because I thought it would just go back to the default way it was, like the first time I installed it. But it seems to just keep loading my newest preferences even though ive reinstalled.

So is there any way to change SL's graphic preferences without actually booting up the game?

Any Tips would be greatly appreciated.

try using speedfan (sorry, no download link, you'll have to find it)

speedfan sounds good, But what I need now is to get SL too boot up in its default mode and default graphics.

speedfan cools the system. and as far as "default setttings" what version of windows are you on?

I noticed in Program Files for SL there is a Graphics App folder. I was hoping there was something in there that would help but all that stuff is way over my head.

I've pretty much lost hope and will prolly just have to get a new videocard. But I thought id try here first.

start > run "%appdata%" this will bring up a window with your application settings for EVERY application on your Pc. simply delete the one for Second Life. it wuill see Sl as a fresh install.
