Editing chat text: pressing delete delets current selection

If I'm editing my chat text while I have an object selected, and I press the Del key to delete the character to the right of my cursor, the client also tells the system to delete the selected object in addition to the character in my chat text.

Shouldn't this keyboard event be caught at the text editor level and not passed on for the prim editor while I'm in text-entry mode?

most definitely not the first to notice... I dont know how many times I've been caught out by this. A few times I've deleted stuff - once my entire treehouse - while trying to talk to someone as well.

But then the chat thingy is just dire anyway.

It doesnt accept home or end... and yet you cant cursor through it either. So there is little hope of trying to correct anything u say before saying it. Honestly, I generally press escape and start again if I make a mistake cos it's far easier than trying to edit the text. As has been said before, while SL is striding in leaps and bounds into new realms, the chat part of it is back in the dark ages.

Yep Kex, I'm all too aware of this bug... I "accidentally" delete stuff all the time. =P

This is a good point. Perhaps while fixing this bug, they could invest a little time in completing the standard textbox functionality...
