when i try to install for the first time i get "cannot install new version while older version is running" and i have never installed the game

I'm not sure, but, maybe you opened the installer twice by accident? Try closing all your programs, then reboot, then try installing again. Maybe a Linden will post with more help?

I had the same thing happen. I bet you have XP. Make sure you don't have an explorer window called 'Second Life' open, and then execute from the Run option. If you don't know how to do that, holler  Hope that helps - Kerstin |
