New Client OMFG!

Well I DL'ed the newest client 1.23 and my SL turned to shyte so I went back to 1.22 and still the same. After speaking with multiple friends in SL we have all noticed a massive drop in overall SL performance. Textures taking forever to rez, movements being choppy, crashes and more. I checked my computer to make sure something on my end wasn't screwing up and everything is working fine.

Is anyone else having issues with SL this week?

Great, after the magnificent disaster of RC0 LL keeps continuing to screw up user installations by persuading them to try a "Release Candidate" that is not even close to be ready for a test version rather than a final release.

If you try to go back and your SL is f*cked up, please uninstall all viewers first, then delete all files in your user_settings folder. Reinstall the 1.22 viewer and hopefully it will work again. Good luck.

I've never ever had one viewer affect another in any way, and I've had as many as half a dozen or so different ones on the same machine at the same time. At present, I've got 1.22 and 1.23 sitting side by side. They've both been there for quite a while now. 1.23 is glitchy (which is why it's still a candidate, not a main viewer), but I've had no problems to speak of with 1.22.

I do make sure to use separate cache folders for each viewer I've got, and those folders are located on a scratch disk, not on my system drive. If you've been using a single cache for everything, then it's conceivable that the two viewers might interfere with each other, as you'd likely have some "junk data" in there, from each viewer's perspective. That's just a guess, though.

Try using totally separate caches for each viewer, and see if that makes a difference. If at all possible, keep all caches (for all programs, not just SL) on a dedicated drive, well away from system files, program files, and documents. If you don't have a separate physical drive, a partition is better than nothing.

ever since the last update SL is just super laggy for me. I uninstalled all my viewers and reinstalled 1.22 with no change. I checked me computers connection and it's running perfectly... I also checked my computer on PCpitstop and no problems. Basically.... whatever LL did.... is killing me...lol

Yeah, it does appear to be on their end. At one point this weekend, some sims were failing to deliver any textures at all. In the blog it was said that the total fail part is fixed, but asset delivery is still draggy out there.

I am so so so fed up with SL right now. I'm a builder in world and right now I can't build anything because the lag is so bad. I checked everything on my end (as I said before) and I'm fine..... but SL is just unworkable for me.

COME ON LINDEN LABS PLEASE GET IT TOGETHER!!!!

Wow, the new viewer broke the old viewer too? You don't think if both failed together there's the possibility it's your PC or internet connection? Yiur ISP would tell you if they were experiencing a drop in performance wouldn't they?
All 3 viewers I have work fine despite installing 1.23, it has it's bugs, and issues but works otherwise.

This happened to me too. I also tried to "go back" to the older viewer after using the RC but the problems did not go away. Lot of lag and attachments like wings stay opened and closed after I fly, so I have 4 wings going on. Couple issues with huds now too. This client definitely sucks and if you just read posts over at that other sl forum (forgot the name) people seem to be having these same problems and more. I know without question that my connection is fine. It's definitely SL.

LOL for the 3rd time YES... I checked EVERYTHING on my end. Called my ISP and ran download and upload tests and I am running above 100%. Checked my computer using various softwares and PCPitstop and again.... no problems. Basically... SL was fine.... downloaded new client... SL sucked... reinstalled 1.22 client... SL still sucking.

It's SL.... and like BloodDoll said.... other people are complaining about it.

I'm feeling better reading these posts. I was thinking it was just me. I am having a major problem being knocked off of SL every 30 minutes or less. We had our DSL upgraded and it's excellent, I bought a new comouter and realized it wasn't working well with SL, so took it back on the weekend and spent more than twice as much money and have a great system with 8GB DDR2 memory, 640 Gig hard drive, Vista 64bit, Nvidia GEForce 9800GTX video card, etc, and I still keep getting stuck. I watch the statistics meter and now, rather than the 10-11 fps with a computer 2 computers ago I have usually 20 to 40 or so FPS which is great. I am running on HIGH mode now in graphics.

I am wondering if there are some settings I need to change in SL to stay on SL. Any suggestions??? I'm desperate!

Lexi.... all you can do is wait for the lindens to fix what they broke. Plain and simple.

Same here, installed the new RC, it was *HORRIBLE*, went back to latest "stable" client and now texture loads are extremely slow, some textures never load at all. I'm crashing often and sometimes I crash over and over just trying to login until I reboot.
