.............and I still can't play!
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 1.2 x 5, i have sent logs to to support and still waiting, I understand that it is holidays.
I updated all the bits, defragged etc.
I went to the kitchen, made breakfast and put the washing on, just to see if the inventory would load, nope, nothing.
When i log out of sl , i have to redial my adsl.
Any ideas???
Thanks.

I cannot offer any suggestions based on your description. What happens when you start SL? Can you log in? Does SL give some kind of message in the alert box? Does it crash? What do you mean by 'redial' your adsl? Isn't it 'always on'?

Yep, my adsl is always on, however, i have to disconnect and redial so that I can check my email after quitting SL. It shows that it is connected however after quitting SL it seems to have frozen any other operation to the net.
It accepts my password but nothing after that, I have reset preferences and wait and wait for loading, but nothing. No map, no teleporting, nothing.
I again, uninstalled SL and downloaded SL again, but nothing.
It appears that it is frozen after I log into SL, i reset cache to 1000 and 128 mbs, as i did in 1.1 and 500mbs.
I am not very technical when it comes to comps, but I follow instructions ok. I have no idea what is going wrong!
My comp is 2.53ghz and 384 ram, so I assume it is able to cope with SL.
Hope you can help, thanks for your interest!

With adsl you aren't required to redial the internet. Is it losing sync? This may be an internet connectivity issue more than a SL issue.
Are you having any problems browsing websites or getting email at times? You may also make sure you don't have any type of firewall turned on.

What type of dsl modem do you have? When this happens with SL check your equipment and if your ADSL or sync light is flashing or solid.
That is my only guess at why you'd have to "redial" the internet. By redial do you mean you restart your modem/router?

My adsl is flashing, when connected to the net, as far as i know that always happens.
After I disconnect from SL, and disconnect from adsl and redial, i have no problem with the email or the net.
I loath to disconnect my firewall, my comp is a business one also, but I have done it for the exercise seeing if it makes a different to SL, but it makes no difference.
I had no major problems with 1.1.
As you can imagine, it is driving me nuts.
Thanks for you help, I do appreciate the time you have taken.

Yeah our two brands of equipment where I work has solid adsl/sync lights when all is good but other brands may be different. But yet you say your able to still use the internet afterwards.
Hm , yeah my friend also had a similiar issue with connecting and it had something to do with an installed program called zonealarm and/or his firewall. (Sorry I cannot remember exactly which it was)
I'm still curious on what you mean by redial. Do you physically turn off and back on the power to your dsl modem/router once this problem happens?
Also where you able to connect to 1.2 at all?

After I quit SL because, nothing happens and no inventory loads, i have to physicaly, disconnect the adsl and reconnect to view my emails or see any any web pages.
Its rather strange.
Nothing on my computer has changed between loading 1.1 and loading 1.2.
Thanks, Sky.

Further to that, I am able to log into SL 1.2, it even loaded the inventory once, but I was unable to move, only zoom and change preferances. At first I thought it was lag, but it seems to be frozen.
Thanks, Sky

Sky -- do you mind listing out your hardware and the path of connections from your phone line to ADSL modem and eventually to your machine?
Also, have you tried uninstalling SL and reinstalling, even going so far as deleting the SL folder in the Application Data folder of your Docs & Settings directory?

At first I thought it was lag, but it seems to be frozen. This is a common symptom of a lost connection to SecondLife. Next time this happens, leave your computer sitting for ten minutes, and see if you get an error message from the SecondLife client. If so, post what the error message says.

Thanks for your interest everyone.
Linden have been working on my particular problem and it seems there is a glitch in my download.
Hopefully this will be amended soon, just one of those things that happen.
They have had to give me clear instructions and we have been emailing back and forth and they have shown a lot of patience.
See you all soon, take care!
