The Lighting and Glow in my SL have been way too high since I got an Nvidia 8800gtx. I've tried playing with gamma and other settings which has helped the general lighting issue, but Glow is still cranked way too high!
I checked with a couple of friends and had them send me screenshots to compare what they saw with what I see and its the difference between a 40 watt bulb and a 300 watt bulb.
Any suggestions?
Thank you for any help you can offer!

Thank you for any help you can offer! Welcome to the world of not everything appearing the same to all. Glow is very easy to over-do, at least for me (8600gts, LCD monitor). People seem to just use the click arrows and that's way too much. I generally use 0.02 - 0.05 (has to be manually entered).

In the debug settings, scroll down and there is a group of RenderGlow* options, you can see how your card takes to changes in each of them.

Only a few places that glow everpowers for me.......one is a place my friend has across the road from me. I've just been ignoring it......now maybe I can fix it.

Entire building is alpha and glow, so at certain angles . . . ow, my retinas.

Hmm the 8800's show glow too bright? Maybe that explains why I've sent photo's to a few glow users showing them what I see and asking them to turn it down a bit and I find a glow of.05 enough for most of my uses

Glow through transparency is additive
08-18-2008 09:43
Most of this is caused by a bug in the rendering engine - glow levels are not normalized when viewed through transparent objects. Easily fixable, if they'd just take a look at it and do something about it. This is the same level of problem as the texture warp problem with tapered cubes, where the UV-map is incorrectly folded because the w-scaling they're using to render the maps with is broken.
These are computer graphics 101 sorts of coding errors. There's really no excuse for them in a professional game engine.

Glow is hard on my ATI Radeon x1300 and on my Nvidia 8800GT. .1 is just too much. A friend of mine had glowing hair and it looked like the hair was on fire. It's nuts.
