Hi all, I'm experiencing a strange and annoying problem with my Netgear MR814v2 Wireless Router. My PC is connected to it via a MA311 Wireless PCI adapter, and I typically get a connection signal strength of about 70% - 80%. Up until I installed and started playing SL, everything internet-related has been fine (including other online games - UO, AC2, AO etc) - no problems at all. My problem now is I keep losing connection to SL mid-way through playing. Usually, I'll be doing stuff and then my avatar becomes unresponsive and the world kinda freezes. So I'll quit SL, return to desktop, and my computer can no longer see the router (wireless network indicator in system tray jobbie goes red, and zero signal). The only way I've found of rectifying this is to unplug the router, shutdown the PC, plug the router back in and then restart. Although it's a solution, it's getting a bit annoying. This problem can occur anywhere between hourly to every few hours - not at regular intervals either. I've read the forums, but can't find any specific problems related to my particular router. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try in order to stop this from happening? I'm about to try and upgrade the firmware on my Router, as this seems like the only potential problem area. Thans in advance and all that Harry Manilow

I used to own that router. It caught fire and I threw it out the window. I'd recommend a new router...maybe a D-Link or Linksys?

Yeah, these routers are kindof sucky. What you can try is (and it might work ). - write down all the settings in the router on a piece of paper - RESET the router completely (ie hold down the reset for like 20-30 seconds till it reboots) - Put in the latest firmware - RESET the router completely again (hold down reset for 20-30 seconds till it reboots) Then reconfigure and hope. Also, it is *much* more stable if you force 802.11b on the router rather than setting 802.11b/g or 802.11g. This wont affect your SL speed because SL is running well within the limitations of 802.11b. Azelda

Well, thanks for the replies I'm happy to report back that I didn't have to either buy a new router, set fire to my existing one, or throw it out of the window I downloaded and installed the latest firmware (version 5.03) and had a totally uninterrupted day of SL bliss yesterday.
