massive packet loss on RC

At certain times of day I am getting packet loss of up to 155% (not quite sure how that is possible) on the RC client.

I had just assumed it was because I was on a wireless network and live a long way from my nearest exchange. Anyway, today, as an experiment, I tried out the normal viewer (1.19.1) and the problem completely disappeared.

Any ideas anyone?

I am reluctant to upgrade to the new normal viewer in case this recurs.

I don't think you have enough data points to draw a conclusion from.

SL over WiFi has always been a bit of a crap shoot.

Yes, I realise that, but this is the ONLY difference ...

log in with the RC - huge packet loss
log out and log back in with the regular client - problem disappears
log out and back in with the RC - huge packet loss again

I can work round it fine, I just wondered whether this was a known issue at all, and whether it was likely to affect the latest version of the regular client.

Check Preferences > Network to see what your bandwidth settings are in each client, and if they're different. Lowering bandwidth often helps reduce packet loss.

I just checked and my bandwidth setting is slightly higher on the normal client (the one that works fine)

oh well, all it means is I can't build in my skybox roundabout teatime. I'll live!
