Ok, the dance animations are broken - as Phoenix mentioned me to "the code that glue's the feet the ground when dancing" may have been messed up.

Im posting this as per Phoenix's request as a reminder to the LL staff.

I don't know the dance animation names - but i do notice that now when dancing on the ground we look the same was as when we dancied while flying - sliding all over the place.

Can we fix this please?

In a way, this is actually more correct that the other way... your feet placement are actually much more realistic now... however, since the anims dont start and stop in the same place and are different from one to the next, coupled with the fact that we don't wanna do a whole anim from start to finish each and every time...

I agree. Put back the gluey feet!

Actually... it's more serious than that!

Ok. Done a bit of dancing last night, and found out a few things which actually constitute this new behaviour being classified as a bug and deserving of attention pretty quickly, imo.

Now that your start and stop positions on the ground are different and we're not glued in place, the sideways shimmy type move (I think its Shift + F11 off the top of my head) actually allows you to shimmy a few meters to the side with each press... rather than return you to your original position...

BUT! and this is a big but... your collision zone remains where you SHOULD have been! After a couple o' shimmies last night, my friend was able to walk through me without problems..... but hit an invisible me about 3m to my right.

It's essentially the same as the bug when your co-ordinates get screwed and you can go thru the ground - we were able to walk thru walls and stuff... as long as there was about 3m clearance to the right.

This was completely reproducable, and both of us were able to do it.

Which "you" was your mouselook centered on? The bounding box, or your visible avatar?

Ya know, this bug is still a bug.

And... I thought I'd resurrect the thread cos I actually did mean to post the answer to the question way before.

But anyway, the thing is, now we aren't nailed to the spot, the end of some of the dance moves is not in the same place as the beginning. And yes, this affects your collisions zone/bounding box thing. And yes, it's completely repeatable every time.

E.g. Fly off the ground a little ways and do the 'sideways shimmy' type move - I think it's F11, but not got access to SL just now. You will find yourself about 2m to the right of where you were.

Now try moving forward slowly. What actually happens is that you move in an arc, with the center 'pinned' to where your bounding box is - where you started the move. You will find you can go right thru other avatars, but they will hit the invisible you to the left.

However, they do focus on your avatar, not the bounding box.

If you laugh or land, you will reset the position of your avatar to match your bounding box.

Don't worry too much if you don't want to fix it... you can do some 'interesting' things by playing round with this...

(cue Lindens fixing dance bug (since anything 'interesting' we've been able to do with our avatars they've slowly been breaking for us so we can't!) :p )
