Can anyone help me here. when i logg on to SL i get this message......Gl indicates that the graphic driver on this system is running in PCI mode a slower method of drawing graphics.if you are useing a pci video card ya can ignore this message,if ya are useing a AGP video card,ya should update your mother board drivers for improved preformance in this and other 3d applications..
i also get this message from another place.....AGP drivers missing or out of date

Your computer contains an AGP port to accelerate graphics. The drivers for this port are either missing or are too old to allow the port to perform properly.

I asked a linden in game for help he told me to post here that maybe you guys could help faster then support..I'm not to up on my computer talk so i dont know which way to turn here or what driver needs updateing.
my graphice card is a Nvidia Geforce2 mx 200
My computer is a Hewlett-packard pavilion 531w
intel(R) celeron(TM)CPU
1300mhz
1.29 ghz
256 mb of ram

I did go into my device manger and checked for a Nvidia driver update it said there was nothing better then the one i had..So i dont know what to do..if ya have any ideas on how to fix this id greatly appreciate it thank you

I think all you need to do is update the AGP driver. Find out what kind of chip is running the AGP, then go to its website and download the latest one.

The best way to do this might be to go to Hewlett Packard's website and look up your system (Hewlett-packard pavilion 531w).

I know Dell has halfway decent descriptions of their hardware and (although maybe outdated) driver links. I'd assume that HP would also.

If not, someone else will have to suggest something here...

Could be he has an AGP slot but his video is PCI, did G2's even come in a PCI varient? -- I'm thinking they did so companies could cut costs and fib about their great graphics models.

Quick visual check: pop the case cover off your computer and look at the card that the cable from the monitor connects to. The video card should be in a long slot, longer than the other slots by it. The long slot (there's only one long slot), tan colored, is the AGP slot. If it's in one of the shorter slots (white colored) it's a PCI video card.

If it's a PCI card, time to go shopping for an AGP card.

If you do have an AGP card then first I'd go check with HP and look for new drivers/instructions.

As well during POST (boot up) you most likely need to check the BIOS settings and make sure that, if given the option, the primary video adapter is set to AGP.
To edit the BIOS, as your computer posts (first thing you'll usually see during the post is the memory check, or perhaps video adapter info, so as soon as you see that then start pumping the delete key (which brings up the BIOS editor). ("posts" means when you first turn on your computer and see some text about things like memory checking, video adapter type, hd info, etc..). Hitting the reset button will force your mboard to post, as well doing a restart in windows will also cause your mboard to post.

Also make sure your video drivers are up to date. Go to: http://www.nvidia.com and download/install the Detonator drivers for your card.

I think they did have a PCI version, not gonna check though. :p

Bleh, if HP sold him a computer with a PCI graphics card, it BETTER had been a budget (or business?) model and not a multimedia/gaming model. If it's one of the latter, that's just irresponsible.

basically Sinizter the thing to do is find out what 'make' of motherboard you have. It should be listed somewhere within the specifications of your computer. Its probably an intel or a via, but it could be any of several other things. (hp may have more information or more specific downloads for your computer)

What you are *missing* is the drivers for the motherboard, not yer video card.

Once you know who makes the motherboard, and what type it is, you should be able to go to their website and download the 'chipset drivers' (in the case of via they're known as hyperion 4 in 1's).

Those drivers contain the information needed for your computer to use the AGP port properly and should be able to get stuff running without the errors and mebbe abit more smoothly in general
