Unable to connect to Second Life. The login server couldn't verify itself via SSL.

Something tells me that 1.17b will be pushed sometime tomorrow morning.... SSL keys are always an interesting phenomenon. Why we needed encrypted communications is beyond me though.

Anyone notice that your first and last names aren't saved now when you click "save password" but only your password is? I don't know if I like this or not.
I notice that my password goes longer after I get the "server is down" message. Maybe my names are going into password field? Hmmm.

I'm assuming that everything is working fine now for you guys. The SSL error that you saw was a glitch from switching to our backup servers; effectively, the backup login server had the wrong SSL key configured when it was brought online, and so people who were trying to connect saw the error.
<technical details> The login process of Second Life uses SSL to help protect your password from being intercepted. It also helps prevent various other nasty attacks which could allow someone to log in as you. The rest of the game is not running over SSL; it's all UDP traffic. </technical details>
