For 2 days now I have had no sound and no music. When I chat there is no typing sound, when I click anything...nothing; and I cannot get music anywhere there is music including my own properties/sims.
I'm on Second Life 1.19.1 (4) with an HP Pavilion Media Center and this is a first for no sound in 2+ years.
Has something permanently changed or is this just another pesky bug?

You might be able to fix it with a system restore. Start/ Programs/ Accessories/System Tools /System Restore, if it's like XP.
Alternately you may have acquired a problem with your sound driver. Possibly Windows Update installed a bad driver. I've had that happen before. You might be able to revert the driver in Device Manager.
Alternately you might remove the sound device, then reboot and let Windows prompt you to install the new device it will find. Before you do that, make sure you know where the sound driver is. If you dont' currently know where you have one, go the sound device maker's website and get one from there.

9 out of 10 times I have this same problem it turns out I pressed the 'mute' button on the front of my laptop.  |

Got it fixed... kitty stepped on the Volume button. I had checked it the first day and it was fine but SL was messy so it's hard to say for that day but all is well now. Lesson of the week.... keep kitty paws away from keyboards (unless you're a furry or tiny  |
