Before I download the posted version and attempt to get back in the swing of things, I need to know if the new version will work with Win98? It says 2000/XP only.

There should be no reason for the Second Life NOT to work on Windows 98. However, because the majority of the users with our hardware requirements are running Windows 2000 and XP, and our resources (programmers) are limited, we're focusing our resources on making sure it runs on those platforms.
That being said, give it a shot. We haven't made any changes that should make it NOT work on 98 since the last release.

I have Win98, and it runs smoothly enough - I have to keep the draw distance down a bit tho --- Solitaire
