no but if its causing a driver error its not surprising its taking down the whole system, any os will do that (ive have had a simmilar experience while updating linux drivers, and its far more stable than most windows versions)
what version of the nvidia driver are you using (you can find out by running dxdiag)

I just had that happen with my mom's laptop right after I installed and played SL and restarted. I got a blue screen saying that I needed to check my hardware to see if any of it has been corrupted. The tech guys at my university think it's a driver issue.

YES.
My computer is now totally screwed up, and I cannot get past the BIOS screen. (If I do, then it gets a blue screen from 5-60 mintues afterwards, and I am very lucky tog et to 60 minutes).
I think it is my motherboard, which is not good at all. I have had many blue screens, but the only one which wasn't the standard "hardware failure" was "Machine_Check_Exception".
This ALL happened since viewer 1.20 came out, so something has fked my computer up somewhere down the line.
I'm not a happy bunneh.

Not sure if this is coincidence or not, but I had just put together a new computer, new 550W PS, MSI P45 Neo MB, E8500 Core 2 Duo CPU, 2 GB ram, and a BFG 9600GT GC. Running Windows XP. I had not upgraded XP to SP3 yet, so was still at SP2. The computer had been running absolutely flawlessly in SL for over 3 weeks, great frame rates, no crashes, and then a few weeks ago, I had a crash in SL, and ever since, I have not been able to run it, even sitting at the desktop screen and no SL loaded, for more than a few minutes before crashing to a blue screen of death. Almost every error reported has been different, but most appear to relate to something trying to write to a bad memory address. I don't remember if it coincided with any changes at SL or not, but right now, I'm very frustrated and have a brand new expensive boat anchor sitting on my desk.

My bf (he builds computers too) agrees that it might be something with the memory. He's taking a look at the laptop right now, and I'll post again when he fixes the problem. He says he might not even have to reformat it.

I have similar problems and they all started when i was forced to use the 1.20 viewer and higher. Since then i have periodicaly pc hangings. I mean my pc stops completely to respond for three seconds and then continues as normal. This happens sometimes 1 time in a hour and sometimes 20 times. As it seems there is a possibility to go back to the 1.19.1.4 viewer which had absolutely no problems on my pc. I am speaking fo the Nicholaz Eye Candy SL viewer which is basingon the 1.19.1.4.
