I have this problem at times (often enough to be annoying), while moving objects, any type of object.
Sometimes when I drag an object (trying to do it slowly and carefully) a black lock appears and the object dissapears. I do not even release the mouse button.
A day later, I will get an IM from someone in a far away sim telling me my object is in their property and they can't delete it.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Only a confirmation that it's happened to me as well. I thought it was lag, (and I'm not so sure that the problems not related to lag), in any case I logged out and logged back in thinking that maybe the object was ghosted. But alas, no object.
1 day later, I get an IM saying to please come get my object from someone building on another sim 30 m up.
SL can be a very strange world sometimes.

I have never had this happen to me personally but my wife has this happen to her all the time. I have to go help her track down her lost chairs, houses, etc. Usually they are two or so sims away.
