I am behind a DI-604 router that sometimes does the same thing when I either download gigs of information, visit wizards.com/magic (for some reason), and rarely "just because". I was able to play SL for three monthes without a problem, but now I am re-experiencing the same disconnect problem.
When I log in (which I do successfully) and on the second bar that tells you "downloading inventory", I get in the game but I am unable to move. I look at the stat window and it shows packets going out but nil coming in.
I have tried two on-board ethernet connections (nForce2 board: one is Nvidia's own and the other is 3com) and a Realtek ethernet card.
Drivers updated.
I think I am going to reinstall SL.

I had the same problem twice, but was able to fix it by doing the following: Under your profile in Windows XP, there is an applications data folder. It is a hidden folder, so you need to make sure you can view hidden files and folders. There will be a Second Life folder in the applications data folder. Delete the entire Second Life folder in the applications data folder. Then restart Second Life. That should fix your problem.

I think I am going to reinstall SL. Gibson, reply and let me know if this worked for you, if not I can offer other suggestions that may fix the problem. Let me know though, cause I don't wanna type a novel if you don't need it.

No, it did not work. I am going to try installing it on another computer to see if it is the network and not the computer.
