What is the point of "Groups"?

I'm not getting the point of Groups, in an "Online Community" where they don't work.

That is, half the people who have receive group notices selected, don't receive notices. Half, don't receive group chat messages and this continues to be an issue that is never truly addressed.

What exactly is a community, where the community part doesn't function?

-shrugs-

Peace.

Well lets see here people use groups for staff for their clubs,or for fun,or for vampire clans. It is basically to keep up with events, friends, parties, and so on. So, it could be a SL bug or your internet connection. So, don't get upset over groups. :) Just make sure you have the box checked in the group info that says "receive group notices". Then you will get them. Oh, and tell your friends and other people that are having problems with your issue.

Peace Love,Happiness

Hey. Thanks for the input, but this really isn't about me receiving such. It's about hearing from upset group members who aren't getting notices put out. Or able to receive group chat.

I got this a lot, from a really large group I was running for a Club. Then started a smaller one for an rp group. I got so many complaints of missed notices or group chat in the larger group, even after going over making sure they had receive group notices checked.

So, in this smaller group, I decided to get with people specifically and get a fair sampling.

It runs about 50% with variations. 50% of the group misses either notices, group chat, or both.

Half of a group. That's not a "little bug" that's atrocious, in what is supposed to be an "Online Community" aimed at bringing people together, or allowing them to connect and socialize.

And, because people often "assume" their groups are receiving notices, or seeing the group chat, this problem remains semi-transparent and is never addressed. It's been going on since I joined SL back in May of last year.

And, it seems to affect groups regardless of size, both those groups of 100+ members, down to groups of 10-20.

It's quite sad. But, feel free to do your own research into it. Try your own groups, get in touch with people and do test notices and group chat messages.

Peace.
