Graphic problem on iMac G5

Hi, I've used Second Life for the a few weeks on my PC, however I have recently purchased an iMac and after installing SecondLife there is some strange graphical glitch on characters.

The environments looks perfectly fine, however my character and other people's look like something from the movie "the thing". I was wondering if anyone has ever experienced this problem before, and if they know how I can fix it.

Go into preferences, in either display or options, turn off Avatar Vertex Program.

Its verrrry nice. I liked the look of the G4 better though. Its so much nicer than my PC.
