My guess is your friend's problem is due either to router settings or PC firewall settings. Tell him/her to make sure SL is allowed full access through any software firewall that might be running (including the one built into Windows), and to make sure his/her router settings match those outlined in the Knowledge Base. To find those settings, go to http://secondlife.com/support/ , click on Knowledge Base in the left hand column, and then Hardware Questions. You'll see question number 9 is "How do I configure my hardware firewall (such as a router)?" Sorry I can't post a direct link, but the Knowledge Base isn't well linkable. By the way, is there something wrong with your period key and your shift key? One period, followed by a capital letter, has been the way sentences have been separated in the English language for at least a few millennia now. Three periods each time, and no capitalization, is pretty weird. It makes your writing more difficult to read.

hmmm ...
thanks for the answer Chosen.
i think that the firewall is not the problem, because two other avatars can login on the same pc

Thanks for filling in... =D (jokin) On topic If one AV can log in and not another from the same PC, something is borked in the cache folder. Turn on hidden folder/files in windows explorer. Search for the secondlife folder hidden within windows application data folder. On my PC it is here c:\Documents and Settings\"user"\Application Data\Secondlife\ Find the folder with the broken AVs name. Remove/copy/move your chatlogs if they are in there too. Then delete the whole folder named after that AV. This will refresh the viewer for that AV and hopefully let you log in. When you do get in you will have to go through all the "you have teleported" messages and you will need to search your inventory to "kick" the asset servers. Best of Luck

Wow OK. If an av wont log in from any computer then i suppose it must be on LLs end.
Sometimes a bad crash can leave an AV "stuck" or Ghosted. Various things can fix this. I would start by checking to see if the AV is showing as logged in. If it is then try IMing, paying money, TP offers, etc to try and shake it loose.
If you know where the AV is a sim restart may help. Mainland sim restarts can be requested from thru support, i think. If it is a private sim, contacting a manager and asking for a restart may be quicker.
Keep tryin; you'll get in.=)

I'm having this same problem now and I was on less than an hour ago. I had a bad crash as well. I tried clearing cache and that didn't seem to help any. Any other ideas?

My character has been stuck ingame for 6 hours now, no reply from my ticket. Is this normal for the support team to be so worthless or is it because it's the weekend and nobody is working?
I was going to upgrade to a premium account and buy more lindens, but I think cancelling my account would be a better option.
I was stuck in Lord of the Rings Online twice in 2 years and on both occasions it was fixed in under 15 mins.

i'm also still getting the error but i noticed that if you keep trying to log on and get the bar to where it's all the way to the right then try to keep logging in 20-30 seconds before you're suppose to and i can get in that way. but if i logout i have to do it all over again, it's getting rather annoying. Support said they restated the sim i crashed in and that didn't help at all.

HERE'S THE SOLUTION SUPPORT GAVE ME, SEE IF IT WORKS FOR ANY OF YOU GUYS. It appears that your Avatar had become 'stuck' or 'ghosted' on a particular region. This happens when there the region you were on previously does not complete the process of logging you off correctly. Since an Avatar can only be connected to Second Life once, you will be unable to connect whilst your presence is stuck. The region you were stuck in has been restarted and your presence cleared. You should now be able to log back in. In the case that this is happening to you repeatedly, please remove all attachments from your avatar including HUDs. (Right click on your AV then click Take Off > Detach All) System clothes do not affect this as they can not be scripted. You may also find that you become 'ghosted' more often when you use a wireless connection to Second Life. We would recommend a cable/wired connection where possible. Finally, before logging in, please clear/delete your Second Life cache, and connect to a different region. Instructions on how to do so are given below: How to clear the Second Life cache :- 1) Click "Edit" then "Preferences" in the "Menu" tab. 2) Click on the "Network" tab. 3) Click on the "Clear Cache" button. How to log in to a different region:- You can click either of these SLURLs, or build your own at http://slurl.com/build.phphttp://slurl.com/secondlife/Aqua////http://slurl.com/secondlife/Pooley////If you'd like to know more about SLURLs, you can visit www.slurl.com/about.php or visit our knowledge base Article: How to use SLURLs - Video Tutorial If you require any further assistance, then please do not hesitate to contact us again. Ghosting gives a different error message: "the system is logging you out... account will not be available until.. (5 minutes later)." This repeats forever until the culprit sim is being rebooted. This does not look like ghosting to me.
What was the answer from support? Is the ticket still being worked on? You can check your support status yourself and see if anything new is happening.
