Ok, here's the procedure.
Editing a cube, hit the Select Texture radio button, then click on one of the faces. Set the transparency to 90 for that side. Now click the Rotate radio button and try to rotate the cube. Can't do it -- have to deselect the object and then go back into edit mode again.

Similar (i think) problem: Link some objects, select individual and then click on one of the pieces. Next Unlink that one piece, you can't move or rotate that peice until you select something else and then select that peice again.

I also noticed that you can't resize an object after selecting a texture unless you stop editing it and start editing it again.
