Why did you guys have to change flight so drastically?

Flight is almost impossible to control now. Turns are wide and slow, response is laggy, and its very inaccurate now.

Was this supposed to be an improvement?

Was your "springiness" slider reset, Michi?

I know mine was.

it seems to sem more from the physics... as if there were more 'inertia' now than before. the best example i can think of is build up some speed flying in one direction in mouselook mode and whip the camera around really quick for a 180... before you'd just about imediately be traveling in the new direction, with mebbe a little delay for lag.

Now though it seems to 'feel' much more inertial... right when you whip the view around (still holding forewards) you're moving backwards... the backwards movement dwindling, hitting zero, and then you start accelerating forewards again... total time till yer movin at full speed is 3-4 seconds...

before.. it seemed more like 1-2 seconds. It doesn't appear to be 'lagged' either since if it was *just* lag, it may take as long to turn around but there wouldn't be a 'smooth' velocity change.. it would jus take a little longer then snap to full speed in the new direction.

pretty much just like we have more 'inertia' as we fly now..

LL has defnitely messed with something without telling us. Before, I could always hit a maximum speed of 250m/s but now it seems limited to 128?
Flight speed also seems much lower. This is perhaps to mitigate simulator handoff issues (the stuck-between-sims bugginess) though I have no idea why more inertia would help with anything.

I thought my aircraft felt slightly different in 1.4.0. I don't notice it any more.

If it's an issue of "inertia", it's VERY buggy!

I have a jetpack I bought, and sometimes I'll come to a full stop, turn around, and start going the other way, and for second or two I'll be going the OTHER WAY. This is after a full stop.

I'm not sure I explained this right... after all, how do you explain unexpected physics behavior when you don't know what's going on other than the fact that you're over here going this way when you should be way over there going that way....

I've noticed a speed slowdown in my Touring Balloon as well, since Version 1.4 came out. In addition, buoyancy seems to have changed as well.

I hate asking this lately, but can a Linden comment? (/me hears crickets)

Speaking personally, my Omega Anchor script performs exactly the same as it did between 1.3.6 and 1.4.2.

At the risk of hijacking the thread to promote my own product, the reason I created it was to allow for more precise control over flight and movement. There's no more "newbie drift", (where your momentum carries you through a crowd of people, making you look like a jerk), plus there's a speed controller that lets you go as fast or as slow as you like.

The basics of the script are simple -- llTakeControls and llMoveToTarget are the important functions. The "fancy" stuff is just UI and extra features.

The new, slower flying 1.4, it now takes twice as long to travel that 500 meters from the nearest teleporter, I figured they upped the render settings somewhere myself, then again my PIII 450 dies when I see a new avitar x.x
