I am brand new, and totally confused. I downloaded the textures (wood, glass, etc) from the SL download page. Now what do I do with them? How do I get them in the game to use?
We newbies ask the darndest questions... don't we?

If you go to your file menu, there is an upload texture option. It will cost you 10$ per texture to upload.

Hehe, I thought they put those textures in the default inventory! But yes, what Pete said. It will appear in the "Textures" folder of your inventory for you to use. Remember that you can use any picture from your hard drive as a texture, not just the ones on the SL site. Good luck building!

Be sure to look at the contents of your Textures folder before spending any money uploading textures; there should be a reasonable assortment in there already.
Also, you can pick up some free texture bundles at the bazaar in Stillman.
