OK, I got a new system with the graphics card - Nvidia Geforce 8600GT. I downloaded the latest drivers for it. HOwever when I try to run SL I get the following message:

NVIDIA display driver files from different (incompatible) versions of the driver have been disabled.

NVIDIA Open GL acceleration is disabled in order to maintain system stability.

To resolve this problem, update the NVIDIA display driver. The latest driver is available at www.nvidia.com

But I already got the latest drivers! Help!

OK, I tried restarting again and this time it seemed to work, at least, I am in SL!

but now I have a diff problem! I'm not seeing any textures on my avatar. Everything is grey. Is this just because it's a new machine and has to redownload everything again? I waited a few minutes and saw all my attachments appear but still no textures.

Yep, you'll need to redownload textures/stuff again to cache.

Easiest way to see if it actually work is ctrl-shift-1 , under simulator / pending download , whenever that reaches 0 the world shouldnt be gray anymore.

Tho you might have to move to diffrent sim to actually have it finish as some sim's thats to slow will just see a rise in pending upload as asset struggling.

This is probably the easiest way to see if Sim is going to hell or not, so i tend to keep it up, a constant rise and never going down, means sim is overloaded with requests to asset downloads , wich usually mean i leave it.

If i could change the gui , i would have pending up/down files on the top bar , since its very usefull to see.

Yeah, it says I have 2 pending downloads. Av is still gray, a couple of textures have loaded on a bracelet but that is all, and my HUDs aren't loaded properly.
Everything else looks beautiful and I have 30-35 fps! I've never had over 10 with my old card.

In the network Tab of preferences, push the slider for bandwidth right to 1500, until things start to load, then slide it back down to around 500 depending on the rest of your system. Open the cache size to around 500-750 or more if you want.

Open your inventory and in search, type AA, this will signal the assets servers to update your inventory. Use the Recent tab and then the Filters in the File menu, increase the days since logoff to 10. This again helps to fill up caches and keep the system pointing at your client for updating.

Ctrl+Shift+1 opens a window, check the Sim ping, if this is above 250ms, tp to a better sim, the same if the Time Dilations fall below 0.75. At the bottom of that window, click the 'Time(ms)' and the window extends to show script times etc. If the script times are above 23ms, again tp to another location.

Once everything has settled down, take off all HUDs, primed hair etc and just have basic clothing on, TP to the place you like to log in, and put everything on. Again wait for this to settle down and all the grey has gone, now rebake your avatar. Once complete, do whatever you normally do.
