Well i havent been in SL for a bit but decided to jump in...and guess what..first attempt i made it in,...but with massive lag...sculpties were distorted, and particles crappy...so i exited...cleared cache...and tried again..this time i get to the log in screen then it crashes every time...so i uninstalled it then downloaded a new copy, installed..and same conclusion...crashed at log in again....and again...and again....
Im not exactly sure whats up here..havent really changed much for settings nor hardware..been running it just fine earlier....
Windows Vista Ult.. 64bit Graphics card: ati 4870, using CCC 9.5 Cpu: amd 9950@3.0 Ram: 8gigs.... ok im not gonna list everything...it really shouldnt matter since its ran perfect with the set up earlier..well a couple weeks back or such....Only thing i think it could be is the Graphics drivers..idk..
Thx for any advice in advance
Renu

Ive been having the same trouble, and i noticed it started happening after i updated the graphics card drivers. Im using an ATI Radeon HD 3400, before i upgraded to 9.5 it worked and after installing the 9.5 drivers it just crashes on startup. I found rolling back the driver helped.

I had to roll back all the way to 9.1 before Second Life would work. Some of graphics were a little odd at start up but a few changes in the graphic options soon changed that . So I hope this helps Also which service pack are you using ? As I discovered re-installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 seemed to help also
