Hi guys... hope someone out there can help put my mind at rest. I have been having problems with my computer recently ie it aint working , however because I cannot function without one... i need it for studies, a family member very kindly informed me that they had purchased a new one for me and that i should expect delivery within a few days. Which is great... I'm very grateful for that. However... upon investigating into what the laptop is and its specifications I am a little concerned as to whether I will be able to access SL or not. Details of the laptop are as follows: HP DV5-111 EM AMD Turion X2 Dual Core processor RM72 ATI Mobility Radeon HD3450 graphics card 3 GB memory (ram) 250 GB hard drive OS: Windows Vista Home Premium My main concern is the graphics card as SL lists it in its "won't work" section. Does anyone have experience with this card... and how is its performance? Please answer on here as I can't get inworld at the moment

wont work section? mobility HD3450 should be able to run SL decently.
I dont see SL listing that as a "wont work card"
"ATI cards that report as RAGE, RAGE PRO, or RADEON 320M, 340M, 345M, or similar model numbers"
thats the quote of wont work with Radeons, which is talking about the integrated 300 series chipset graphics, nothing to do with what is in the laptop in question.
I have an older Radeon mobility X1600 in a Mac that works fine (slow but fine)... the 3450 should be able to run it decently well I'd guess.

Thank You!! *wipes her brow*
This is what I saw:
** Second Life may not run on graphics cards other than the ones listed above. The following cards are NOT compatible with Second Life:
NVIDIA cards that report as a RIVA TNT or TNT2 ATI cards that report as RAGE, RAGE PRO, or RADEON 320M, 340M, 345M, or similar model numbers Intel chipsets less than a 945 including Intel Extreme Cards with the following branding: 3DFX, RIVA, TNT, SiS, S3, S3TC, Savage, Twister, Rage, Kyro, MILENNIA, MATROX
Did i misread it?

ATI drivers can be another matter; if your computer will work with drivers downloaded directly from ati.amd.com rather than from your laptop maker (and my advice is to avoid ATI-based laptops that won't; unlike NVidia, most will) try the newest version first, and then try the version just before that if it doesn't. ATI seems to manage to break things about every fourth driver release or so, and which releases are broken depends on which model of GPU you have.
