I had to stop playing SL when it got too powerful for my old computer to handle. I've since gotten a new computer and downloaded SL and now when I log in, it will be normal for a few seconds and then my whole screen will turn black, forcing me to restart my computer. Upon doing so, I'm told that SL crashed and if I wanted to send a crash report. I've tried turning off that vertex buffering thing in graphics preferences but it didn't do any good. Here are my system specs:

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz
OS: Windows Vista Home Primium
Memory: 3.00 GB RAM
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 2400

One thing to try would be alternate viewers, such as the Linden Lab produced Release Candidate viewer, or the Cool Viewer, or the Nicholaz viewers.

Another thing to try would be using a different video driver. If you are using the latest one from ATI, try earlier ones. If you are using an old driver, try the latest one, and if that doesn't work, try different older ones.

Putting

second life alternate viewers

into Google produces the SL Wiki page on alternate viewers as the first link, so it's easy to find the next time you need the url. The url is http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Alternate_viewers .

Keep crashing as soon as I get online

I can not get online, as soon as I connect I get crashed. I have tried many things as cleanning cache, reinstalling, firewall. What can I do?
