I've tried reinstalling SL, SL is not firewalled, my graphic drive is fully updated, this is the updated version of SL, etc etc and yet..I can't get on, it just wont connect to it...it says the grid is online, it says it's waiting to give a regional handshake, and doesn't go any further...is there a way to fix this? I'm on a public server and I can't go and check that too much...anyone have any ideas as to what i need to do to get SL up and running?

"Public server" strikes me a perhaps being the problem. What does that mean exactly?
I would suspect that the needed ports aren't open properly.
Wired or wireless?
System specs might be useful. "Latest version" is not very useful at all.

It seems a lot of people I know can't connect at all to SL or if they get in are having problems rezzing items or teleporting. So it might be hard to tell at the moment what the issue is.

As I see it, you have two things going against you. First, you have no control over your network. You have to rely on an adminstrator to make sure that part is right. And second, you are on a wireless connection. It's very possible it is not fast enough for SL to run.

From: Lunee Fhang ...that stinks if its true...anyways to fix this if it isn't that? Reboot your router........impossible for you. String a Cat 5e ethernet cable to the server to get off the wirless connection.......again impossible for you. You can make sure any firewally you have installed on your computer is configured properly for SL to run. You can shut down any unnecessary background programs you might have running. You can double check that all your drivers are updated AND properly installed. But, I'm afraid, even with all that done, you won't be able to satisfactorily connect to SL. Your University network is not set up to deal with the graphic intensive environment that SL is. You can talk to your network administrator and see if he/she can help you out a little. But, I doubt much can be done. Or even if the admin would want to do it for you. Once they let one take so much bandwidth that SL requires then they must allow all.........and that would undoubtedly swamp the server.

I've got the login problem too. As I'm busy with some new developments in my business it's really annoying me at the moment. Hope they'll fix it soon.
