I was beating my head against a script that just would not compile, no matter what I tried. I even tried the default "New Script" button and it failed. After quitting and restarting SL the script that I have inversely imprinted on my forehead compiled, and with glee! After starting another new script, that one failed to recompile. I need to restart SL each time I work on a script

That doesn't sound good. Sounds like the CLIENT compiles scripts, almost. Ech.

This seems to be a problem on both Mac and PC. If the compiler gets an error in a script, it may not clear the error flag even if you fix it. Thereafter, all scripts will have a generic syntax error somewhere in the first few lines.
The only way I know of to get around this is to log out and back in.
Haven't found a way to reliably repeat it, or avoid it.

No dream, Moleculor.
The Lindens have said in the past that they'd release bytecode if there was enough demand for it.
