Whenever I launch SecondLife and get in world, The system process starts using up around 50% of my CPU. I checked the threads under Process Explorer and the one using up all of the CPU is "ntoskrnl.exe!KeDetachProcess+0x26c" It didn't do this before, and it persists through a clean install. I am using Windows 7 RTM 64 bit, and the previous installation was Windows 7 RC 32 bit. I know my system is capable of running SL cos it ran fine before on max.

EDIT: Turned off aero, yadda yadda scroll down to my final post

I exactly have the same issue. It's fluid at the beginning, then after 10 or 15 minutes the system process starts to take a lot of CPU and SL gets freezy.
I'm running windows 7 RC (Core2 Duo 2 GHz, 8700M GT, 2 Go RAM)

We can't be the only two Windows 7 users experiencing this problem, right? It worked just fine on previous windows versions, such as Vista and XP. And no, I can't "Just install Vista/XP/Linux/BSD/SunOS/OSX/BeOS/NeXT/Plan 9/AmigaOS/Workbench 1.x/SHODAN/CoplandOS/iPhone OS/Android/Windows Mobile/Windows CE/WebOS/'os/2'" Because i prefer Windows 7 and just saying to use another OS is unhelpful :<

EDIT: found a few clues on JIRA. None of which helped me but heres hoping they help others,

I'm sure there are others here using Windows 7. But evidently those who are using it are not experiencing what you are........or maybe they don't see it as a problem. 50% CPU usage is not that high. Some people see near or at 100% on their computers and do not have problems with it. However you stated that on your other Win 7 OS you did not have this "problem"..........but you also said you changed from 32 bit to 64 bit. That could have a little to do with what you are seeing. How current are your motherboard drivers? How about your video drivers........are they 64 bit?

You haven't told us anything about your computer except it can run SL without this 50% usage "problem".......but, again, that was on a 32 bit OS. Not much to help you with. Some computer specs would help.

Dual core 2.2 with 2 gigs of ram, 8600gtm. also, this problem started on my 32 bit version, i thought it was a faulty driver, but after hopping on to 64 bit it happened right away. Also, 50% is a lot considering it uses an entire core, and while yes SL is using the other 50%, i get roughly 1 frame per 10 seconds.

w00t, found a fix.

Turn off Aero! Aero causes problems for some reason... I chose the simple grey style of windows (It was giving me trouble in Counter-strike: source too) but i'm sure the other style works too.
