Is Anyone doing anything about the new version mess?

Many of my friends are having all sorts of troubles, over many types of PC's and Mac's since the FORCED new version update of the SL interface! It is NOT fun anymore, and when things get worse, they are REALLY bad! We all have many different types of computers, many different browsers... which have to be "high end" to even be in SL, so it is not on our end! How can I encourage others to come to this world when this world is acting so badly?

Specifics:

Lag everywhere! We are all talking about it, does anyone care?

COLORS of clothing no longer look right! example: I bought a sari, where the SL skirt goes down into a flexi skirt, and the colors were so pretty...and all matched! NOW the SL skirt color is darker and does not match the flexi part of both my sari and my friend's sari... the problem of the SL clothes blending with the flexi parts seems to be a major problem SINCE THE NEW VERSION!!

Lighting is very harsh and bright? Somewhere I read the new version was to make "things run smoother".... ???? What does that mean? Does it mean streamlining all the wonderful details and quality of SL right out of it??

Many of us are doing business here, and this is critical for our stores to look right and to function right! And having us as customers no longer wanting to purchase clothing because it will look all funky with oddball coloring, is just bad management. If this world is to continue being viable and profitable, PLEASE have the programmers go to work on the obvious problems! Take polls, ask us to help you help us.... TALK TO US!

I am here because I got kicked off BIG TIME after SL being really wonky all evening. I had to log off and back on every time I changed clothes, and to stop my avi from dancing once I left a dance floor... I mean... gee whiz!!!

It is now almost 4:30 am Friday, Pacific time, USA if that helps - when SL froze up for me and won't let me back on! :( Your site for your grid status does not say anything current about the problems! It just said something about 7 pm last evening...but if something went really wrong, can't you update your grid status page and let us know? People can be surprisingly understanding if they feel they are being kept in the loop and that someone is working on the problems... ALL of them!

Please, someone let persons in charge know what is going on, and has been going on since the update!!

Thank you, from a customer - store owner - disabled person who depends on SL for many things in my limited life.... I want to bring more folks here... but I hope that SL will not become a thing of the past... a flash in the pan... Seems to me it does make a lot of real dollars for the owners... so I go on HOPING someone will hear my voice. Remember, in business it is a statistic that for every ONE person that speaks up there are a large number of the "silent majority" who have not spoken up but are unhappy too.

Thank you for listening and helping! (I hope)

LyneMarie

PS To Help, here is my Computer specs...and I connect via AT&T ELITE DSL
THAT WORKS FANTASTIC EVERY WHERE ELSE ON THE NET!

ABit Fatality NVIDIA Mother board with an:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Duel core 6000+ 3.2GHZ cpu

with Full Duplex Sound on board

Windows XP SP2 FULL, with IE7 (I like it!)
Note: tried Vista and could not get it off my hard drive fast enough
even though it meant reinstalling all the programs and content I have!

2 Gigs of DDR2 800 ram sitting in duel channel ram slots.

Video card: NVIDIA G Force 8800 GT super clocked edition with:
320 mb DDR3 ram (PCIE 16x) *gaming card but good for static 3d too!*

500 Gig WD Serial (SATA) hard drive

Two Lite-On CD/DVD Reader-Writer drives (better two in case one dies, can
still burn archives!) Works great with the included Nero burner software!

all in gorgeous view on my 22 inch wide screen LCD Samsung 3000:1 monitor!

I use a really good up to date anti-virus/spam and all that stuff program, and it
has permissions set FINE for SL... all worked GREAT before the SL interface update!

Hi, You may will find more postings about this lag than the amount of residents here in SL but first let me give you something that won't kill the speed trap but will help you to keep your system more save and clean:

You have WinXP:SP2 --> you may want to get WinXP:SP3 ?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5b33b5a8-5e76-401f-be08-1e1555d4f3d4&displaylang=de

You may want a tool that take care for your whole sytem with one click? I cannot be without it!

A new version has been released:

Wrong colors? SL's Imagination comes with it's own Image :) As each game and each application comes too. The client comes with some options which can be changed, yes, they cant fix everything. So you may want to bring your good graphic card and your big screen to harmony first before you start any application? Professionals need this step too :p You may already have tools to calibrate your new monitor?

About the lag: You have a nice system and a fast internet connectifity and you may have some time :p So the question is: What can you do to decrase the lag that have always been a part of SL and may will be as we all dream about a better world, but when I read the german Wiki about SL everything starts with lag lag lag ;) It was there in 2003 and may will be there in 2013? Who knows. But there are settings and know how's to reduce this and those have been posted several times here in this forum. As I already said, you may will find more postings about this lag than the amount of residents here in SL.

Finally:
From: Ramzi Linden

Please of course continue to report new issues in the Issue Tracker and set the "Affects Version/s" to "1.21". We can only investigate and solve issues that are reported in the Issue Tracker.

I wish you good luck and ask if needed

Cheers

I was having extreme lag in the forced update and the version just before it. Now I am using the Release Candidate, and things don't seem so bad (knock on wood-textured prim). So maybe give the RC a try?
