hi ya!

This message is for Bub Linden. I've got a prim on my head that is a total sim crasher (which I'll not detail here for obvious reason!) and can't log in long enough to detach it.

Is there anything that can be done?

Yes, there is, but you'll have to email LL.

Managed to fix it, but it was still tough.

I knew I'd have to land in a no-script area, but didn't know how to do that. Talked with Richard Linden and he suggested using a URL link to take me there. I logged in on another account (Noir Lumiere) and got the coordinates, fed them into a web browser and that lined my avatar up to land at that spot. I was then able to remove the attachment (but had to delete the script in it to get it off).

Hope it never happens to you, but that's a way you can do it yourself.

Here is a no-script location you can log into

Upshaw, I removed your attachment and you can log in now.

I always wondered what would happen if you attached a sim crasher...

didn't want to screw up my av.

(i hope you didn't get that prim from me)

llSetPrimitiveParams has been disabled for attachments in 1.3.5. This was a last minute change and did not make it into the release notes.

Ah, good. This was a pretty serious problem, I discovered, when a student at my llSetPrimitiveParams() class at the University of SecondLife attached an example to their avatar during class. :)

Was the crash specifically related to PRIM_TYPE subcalls, or did it affect other llSetPrimitiveParams() calls, too?

It will be re-enabled at a later time right?
I had plans for a cool set of attachments. Interesting to see that is' llSetPrimitiveParams is still causing devide by zero's would have thought it would be fix by now... oh well. But it makes sence as an attachment can't unlink, and to delete the bad prim it has to unlink. This was my major fear behind attaching one of these. (maybe this explains my title :p )

Yes, I've been very eager to try scripting prim cuts and hollowing prims as animated attachments and was disappointed (and a bit shocked) to find how dire the results were.

I thought it might happen, but I also thought it might not happen.

At any rate, cautious experiments afterward have shown me that avatars can't sit down on prims that are twisting, cutting, hollowing or changing type. Nor can they seem to sit down on prims linked to such objects, which might keep such scripts off of vehicles. Also a bummer :-(

I'll play around with it a bit here and there and see what I can come up with...but cautiously. Very cautiously :-)

I hope these are re-enabled at a later (soon) date in some form... At least the ability to make an attachment light up... I was using it for my jetpacks and they no longer work now. Grrr.
