my skin is just jumbled textures or all black and my head disappears.....my skin or texture cloths do not rez. I've cleared Cache, edited appearance and rebaked, all of which has not worked. No matter the account I try it doesnt seem to go away all my avatars are like this and it seems like no one else is being effected like this that I know of.

How do I fix it.

Reference to what im dealing with:

What viewer are you using? This looks like a viewer bug from a couple months back.

Tech specs never come amiss.
Tried logging in or teleporting to different sims? Tried resetting your router?
I'm not very helpful, but at least I'm bumping your thread.

Maybe some out of control scripted attachment?
Try Detaching All then putting items back on one at a time.

"Viewer" is the program you use to access SL. These include the standard SL viewer, Nicholaz, Rainbow, Emerald, Snowglobe, etc.

Sounds like you are using the standard SL viewer, but what version? They update the program all the time. If your version is not current, this can cause problems.

To find the viewer version and also some of your system specs, launch SL, but don't login. Click "Help > About Second Life" from the top menu. Select everything in the top half of the popup window and copy and paste it here. That will give us a start.

This is what it looked like when it happened to me - sometimes just my head, sometimes my whole torso:
However, I should add that at that time, rebaking DID fix the problem, if I remember correctly. Do other people see your avatar this way, or just you?

My video driver is all up to date already. I dont think its just me because other people see me either headless or invisible.

This issue is still not fixed according the the JIRA.
https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-12906
You might want to go to the JIRA, and post your system information and screenshot under this issue's comments.

I haven't had the problem since switching to the Emerald viewer, you might give that a try.

i had the same problem 2 days ago - i was just eyeballs and a tuft of hair between them - it was spooky

i went in and out of edit appearance several times and it corrected itself

also, many months ago, i had the same problem
in that instance, nothing i did helped except the passage of time (took a couple of days for it to go away)

Thank god I finally found this post again! I followed the link and read the entire comment section, which took long enough that I lost track of this post and spent 20 minutes or more trying to find my way back here.

Seems like I've seen some other posts from people with problems like this.

Reading that comment history is pretty depressing.

It might help to go to that jira issue and vote for it.

Apparently this problem doesn't happen to everyone with nVidia video cards.

I don't see any mention of a common factor between the folks who are having the problem.

Possibly trying all the different viewers might produce one that works, at least works for the person trying it.
