After I've been in SL for a few minutes or sometimes longer, my screen starts to distort.

I've taken snapshots: http://picasaweb.google.com/blnilsen/BelleDistortedViewing?authkey=zwDJIKi_Jqk

First photo is when it's all okay, next two are when it screws up.

Anyone like to venture a guess as to what's going on? I'm thinking video card (Radeon 9600SE0). Yeah I know it's old.

Everything worked okay until I installed 1.20. Now when I backdate to 1.19 it still does it.

I've tried changing some settings on the Graphics tab but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Also if I TP to somewhere else, it is alright for a few minutes then starts up again.

It's like bad acid flashbacks... never know when it will hit.

If it's still doing it after a backdate, did you remove the user info folder? That stays when you add/remove versions of SL and can mung things up when switching versions.

Since you've uninstalled and reinstall, I'd just purge the whole works, in windows it's at:

C:\Documents and Settings\{windows-username}\Application Data\SecondLife

(use your windows login name in the middle)

Also, if you've had the card a while, check to make sure the fan isn't clogged with dustbunnies.

A common opengl vertex shader bug that can have various causes, all hardware and driver related.
On my gfx hardware this bug goes for good when i disable "OpenGl Vertex buffer Objects" = VBO in advanced gfx settings.
A temporary fix is to disable the vertex shader and re-enable it.
Larger linksets and prims with many polygons (twisted or sculpted prims) seem to be more affected. Right klicking the distorded objects also helps.
