The login for the website has a checkbox for 'remember me' or something like it. This box is useless to me, I click it every time I log in (almost) and it never remembers me. I always have to log back in. I have tried not checking it to see if the polarity is revered but it doesn't help. I have no problem with the forum remembering who I am though.

Also typing in my user name and password in the login on the top right of the main page only redirects me to the normal login, it doesn't actually log me in.

And thirdly, it would be so nice if website and forum login were one, but ONLY if you can convince the main page to remember who I am. Otherwise please don't do this. :p

Ama, make sure you have cookies turned on. Cookies remember stuff on the web like usernames. Also, you dont even have to log in to the forems anymore, just go to your user control panel (click private messages on the forum homepage) on the forums, then click edit options, then in the login, cookies & privacy group, choose yes for "Automatically login when you return to the site?" and yes for "Browse board with cookies?". You will never have to log into the forums seperately ever again :-)

All of this hoeever requires that you enable cookies, it is enabled by default but it could have been changed. The website login may be broken, IM not sure, but you can auto-login to the forums using the above steps.

:D

Chris: I run two (2) php forums, I visit half a dozen others on a daily basis. I have been building interactive websites for about 4 years now. :) I not only know what cookies do but how they work, how to make them and how to use them. But enough with my credentials....

I know what cookies are, I have them enabled. It works for remaining logged into the forums, and I have a bookmark that takes me straight to the forums. This is why I don't want them to merge the systems if they can't fix the log in to remember me on the main page. Because already I don't relog in everytime I visit the forums.

However, every time I go to the main page I have to relog in. I have 'Accept All Cookies' enabled already. :D

And also, the login in the corner does not log me in. It just takes me to the login page.

I am using Windows XP pro, with the latest service pack updates from Windows Update. IE6. Um. Cookies fully enabled, security set to low.

I know your trying to help and thanks. Thats just not the problem this time. :)

hey ama, the check box just asks if you want to have your second life name remembered, not if you want to remain logged in... so it is just saving you from having to type in your name, but you still have to type in your password... as to its usefulness, well i agree with you, although i am pretty sure it is intentional

Bah! You mean I actually have to read that stuff?? That little check box underneath is always supposed to be a save password option.

Ok can I change this to a request for the site to remember my password?? Please??
