First/
Open edit and go to the voice page.
Check that it is enabled.
check that the correct sound device is selected.
Check that when he talks the green meter bar shows the mic is working.

Next/
Close the edit window and press the talk button.
if it is still not working, uninstall SL and reinstall fresh.

I hate to start a new thread but. I am having the same problem. I can use my mic in outside programs, yahoo for example. I get sound in game. I have 2 devices that I can choose from inside settings, the default and a listing for my actual soundcard. Voice has worked in the past on the default setting as well as when my sound card is listed. I have uninstalled SL, rebooted. installed sl.

When ever i go into the device settings no matter which device I have selected, at the mic slider instead of the 5 boxes to show the mic sensitivity I have the words please wait.

Am I missing something?

I do have the exact same problem as Khurt Vhargon.
Starting Sl but not logged in yet - voice seems to funktion. The device settings show the buttons turning green.

As soon as I do logg into SL it will not work. I tried every tip I got so far from portforwarding to firewall up to uninstal and cleaning regestry. None seemed to help.

Other programs like Skype for example work without a problem.
