objects in inventory will not rez

There are a large number of items in my inventory that will not rez. I used to be able to rez them, but now when I drag them onto the ground nothing happens. No error message or anything. I've seen some posts that look like other people are having the same problem. I uninstalled and did a clean reinstall of the client. I have tried rezzing in other regions and onto prims. I have tried attaching them to my avatar. Nothing works.

I just bought a bunch of new land, and my plans for landscaping are stalled because stuff I wanted to use is not rezzable any more.

I have submitted a ticket to LL, and have not even gotten an e-mail acknowledging that the new ticket was created.

Does anyone have any information about this issue? Is LL aware of it? Is anyone working on it? Are these objects forever unusable, or is there a chance I will one day be able to rez them again?

Have you tried completely deleting your local SL cache? It is not affected when you reinstall. You will have to reset your preferences:

In XP the folder is (delete the whole thing):
C:\Documents and Settings\<your userid>\Application Data\SecondLife

In Vista the folder is:
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife

In a Mac OS:
(your Home folder)/Library/Application Support/SecondLife -> Cache

Oh, and another couple of thoughts:

>> Not a lot of people are seeing this, so the Lindens will probably think it is something specific to your setup.

>> Have you tried using an alt (a different account)? That would narrow down whether the problem is something with your inventory, your setup or SL.

>> If you haven't already tried it, you might try reverting to the previous viewer. Look at this blog posting, about a third of the way through it there are links to the 1.19.0.5 viewer:
http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/04/03/the-new-viewer-a-well-oiled-machine/

You can actually run any previous viewer if you add " -channel old" to the Target line in the desktop shortcut you use to run SL. (actually, the word 'old' can be any word, lol).

I deleted the application folder before I reinstalled. I just went back and deleted it again, and the issue is unchanged. I guess I will try going back to the old viewer and see if that makes a difference. What a hassle.

OK, so I uninstalled the new viewer, deleted the second life application data folder, and then installed the earlier viewer (1.19.0.5). The problem persists. I passed a couple of the unrezzable objects to an alt account and tried to rez them from there. They still do not rez. It is always the same objects that will not rez, no matter what region, account, or viewer version I am using. That makes me think the problem is in the server database, not my local setup. These unrezzable objects are distributed seemingly at random throughout my inventory. Sometimes, a nearly identical object in the same folder as an unrezzable object will rez with no problem.

right klick in inventory and edit.
IF name, description or llSetText are too long AND contain utf-8 characters of more than 8 bit per character, this can make an object unrezzable.
so change the object name and desc.

It could also happen if you are having a connection problem too.

I don't think that's the problem. The object names and descriptions look OK.

One of the objects that won't rez is a duplicate of one of the trees from the SL library folder. The original in the library rezzes just fine. The copy in my inventory won't. That makes it look to me like the data for that object in the server database must be corrupted, or something is preventing the server from accessing the data.

Damn. I hope this isn't a permanent loss. I'm now putting all the unrezzable objects I find into separate folders so that it will be easier to locate them later and delete them, once I've finally lost hope of fixing this problem.

Damn.

Yep. It's support ticket time.

It looks like a variant of the inventory loss problem, but it is odd that you're not getting any "Item not found in database" popup. If you're feeling industrious (and I don't know why you would, if I were you I would just be monumentally irritated), you could take a look at the Inventory Loss meta-issue (SVC-114, I believe) and see if this variant is known or being worked on. It's not all that common, at least it hasn't been on the forums.

I have also been experiencing this issue. a good many items in my inventory are not rezzing. I also have followed this thread but no suggestions have fixed my issue. I do notice that a vast majority of what is not rezzing are vehicles but that may just be because i build quite a number of such.

I have created a JIRA issue about this problem. If you are experiencing this issue and wish to comment or vote on it, go to issue #SVC-2207 and login:
