Hi,

I am relatively new here and am having problems with freezing. Any suggestions are welcome!

My latest go-round with this was last night -- I believe it was around 5:30 pm PST or so. I was visiting with Stauf Arbuckle at his place when it happened. I had been editing my avatar's appearance when Stauf said hello. I stopped editing and began chatting with him. We exchanged cards. Suddenly, although I was typing to him, my avatar no longer did the little typing action and I could no longer hear the typing sounds that play when you type. It seemed as though he was not seeing what I typed. I tried PMing as well. (Stauf if you read this, I was trying to communicate with you! :))

The world continued around me, I could see what Stauf was typing and I could turn in a circle but do nothing else. Stauf finally took off, and I quit out of the game and did not come back.

I have had this problem before, where I seem to freeze up.

Possible pertinent info:

I am running Windows XP on a Dual AMD Athlon with a gigabyte of memory. I have DSL.

I have an ATI Radeon 9000 -- just bought and installed about a week ago.

I have attached printscreens of the settings in my Preferences menu. (The colors took a real hit in MS Paint but you can see how things are set.)

Other Odd Problem: invisible avatar

Apparently when I patched to the new version, I lost some assets. My clothing appeared to have been "recovered." Although I have been able to log on and see my avatar since then, last night when I first attempted to go in-world, my avatar's clothing was "still downloading." I saw a message that stated this, and that everyone would see my avatar as normal.

However, I couldn't see my avatar. I even went into Edit
Appearance and all the slider windows were blank. I logged off, tried again with the same result. I then logged off and restarted my computer, logged back on and saw my avatar just fine. (However, I did end up freezing as described above.)

Thanks,

Jezz

Ok....

#1 uninstall,
delete SL folder,
reboot,
fresh install,

#2, reinstall vid drivers

#3 go get a GF card..... (it's not too late!)

P.S. (I forgot) relog into SL for the invisible. They are working on it!
