Does one brand work better than the other in general on SL? I'm trying to decide between the 4890 1gig, and the GTX260. Thanks for any input!

Nvidia has better support for OpenGL, so it will run better in Second Life. The GTX 260 is a very good card for SL: you should be able to max everything. Make sure you are getting the version with 216 cores (I don't know if any of the earlier version are still floating around, but be sure to check).

Thanks guys, I was recommended the GTX 260 because of the fact that I'm going to be using a 37" LCD television as my monitor lol. How can you tell what does and doesn't handle OpenGL well?

If it says ATI, it does not handle OpenGL as well. It's a difference in the drivers that each company writes for their cards, not a hardware issue, so in general all Nvidia cards have better compatibility with SL than an equivalent ATI card.

Awesome, thanks for the reply VQ. I'm going with the GTX 260 without a doubt now.

Nvidia is generally best for gaming.
