cannot log into SL "beta" Preview

I have been trying to log into the preview, to test out my textures. It says I require an update, which I get. then when I try to log in, it claims I need an update again... then when I click ok, it says it appears version 1.2.105 has already been installed... do I want to install again?

I click yes. it redoes the install, but the process repeats itself over and over.

SO..

I uninstalled the preview, reinstalled, and tried over..

no change.

what could be my problem??

ps.. HOW do I put a picture of my avatar here in the forums under my name, like others have?

I don't think the Preview area is open until 3pm PST.

If you learned how, tell me. I am still struggling with how to place a picture. It says to drag your picture to the envelop in our profiles, but I can't find anything to drag there. How do I get a picture of me to drag there? Or maybe that's way off in how to do it.................?

go to bottom of forum screen, to forum jump. it is an drop down menu.

second from top in drop down menu is User Control Panel.

then go to Edit options.

at the bottom is Avatar, and to the right is change avatar.

you will need a picture of your avatar that is NO larger than 50 by 50 pixals.

clik change avatar. on the next page, you will see custom avatars. you can upload one from your computer with the browse button. remember. it MUST be NO larger than 50 x 50 pixals.

then clik submit modifications, and it will upload and display on the forums.

now having a pic of your avatar IN the game on your profile is a whole different story.

there, you need to take a screen shot of your avatar. if you have photoshop or some such program, I suggest taking the pic to disc, and cropping it. then up load it back into the game for 10$ linden.

it will be in your texture folder.

go to your profile, and clik on the grey X where the picture should be, and the texture box will open. from there, find the pic of your avatar that you uploaded, and then it will display in your profile.
