So, I went from my old version, 1.18.5 (3) which works amazing with me - no problems at all, to this. I've uninstalled and went back to pervious clients, they seem to do the same thing, only with 1.18.5 it works fine - because the loading screen isn't bonkers.

Now it does this:

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro, 2300+, 2 Gigs of Ram. I just upgraded to the newest drivers.

Second Life has always ran good for me, since this new WindLight stuff - I can't play.

Anyone know a solution?

I know this wont help since you already did but I had the same problem and I downloaded the latest driver and now it works fine... oh.. wait... I remember my short term fix! I turned off hardware skinning and that did it ^_^ .. I don't know what it does but it dosnt like Radeon.

i have the same propblem with triangles

turn vbo of in hardware setting under graphics in the preferences, this will fix it

someone please help me , just bought a new computer, was recommended this one its an asus x53s series........ i cant connect to sl on it though......i get as far as logging on and then it crashes.......it says there is a problem with the display driver and it has been recovered...... the driver is atikmdag.............please some one tell me how to fix it before i go insane....lol....thanks....

1.18 ran superb on my laptop, 1.19 i am unable to even load sl now

laptop-
athlon64x2 3.2gh
2gb ram
ati radeon 1150 256mb
windows xp pro
sigmatel hd sound card

sl will run but still have random crashes and lock ups on my old custom build desktop

nforce3a motherboard
ati radeon 9550 agp 256mb
windows xp pro
integrated sound
1gb ram pc3200

by all mean i would figure the new pc would run sl betetr than my 4 yr old one. but no. i can run any other game with ease no problems on my laptop except sl.

maybe LL should try to fix the current issues with SL instaed of trying to constantly add new features and stop ignoring the bugs?

don't try to use the latest drivers on your 9800 Pro, there have been hardly any improvements for this card for quite a long time now.

Using Catalyst 8.2 drivers got me into several troubles with crashes and graphical malfunctions, so I switched back to Catalyst 7.8 drivers from
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/xp/radeonxprevious-xp.html
and all worked fine, though VBO-Buffers still are an issue.

I just disabled that without getting notable perfomance loss.
And I disabled the ATI- AI Feature, that messed up my textures.

Now I get about 5FPS to 12 FPS with 2GHz AthlonXP, 1.5 GB RAM and ATI 9800Pro (overclocked @ 400Mhz/720MHz) under WinXP Pro SP2 and 4xAA, maximum Quality in Viewer, 4X Filtering on, but with Virus Scanner etc. disabled (only SL running).

I can't use any drivers with my 9800 Pro past 7.11 or I hourglass and crash or have to close SL. I tried them all. SL runs flawlessly with the 7.11's except the latest client makes me log on to dark navy blue water which I have to adjust at every logon. The funny thing is....I can run other major games flawlessly with the newest 8.4 drivers. Then I have to uninstall them and reinstall 7.11 to play SL again. What is it in the 7.12's and up that's causing the lockups, I wonder?
