Just last night I purchased a cheap TV/Radio an after editing it down graphically (too many pointless prims in the design) it's all looking good.
Only problem is, it just comes with about 8 short demo video's and a few of thm stick or the sound drops out.
I'm not after anything illegal or dodgy here, but can someone please post up a list of public, free media URL's that I can add to the TV to at least make ait LOOK like I hav some real channels rather than a few short video clips?
I understand there are actual SL media channels, perhaps a free music channel?
Anything really.
Thanks.

You could Google the internet for free streaming content.
At EML-Entertainments, all our TV/PLayers come with a selection of SLCN, MBC and Freeview channels already listed in the Open Playlist, which you are free to edit, and add/edit your own urls. You can also add music urls in the playlist, providing all the urls point directly to the media url and not a html source.
We offer these facilities in both our Standard Media systems (1 media stream per pacel), and our Silver Stream Network systems (multiple media streams per parcel).

Thanks for that (and the advert) I have been googling, but I've yet to come up with any actual url's I keep finding pages telling you about 100's or channels of free media streams and to download the players etc etc etc But not an actual listing of the plain url's themselves. Like they are being hidden. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places?

you could do a netstat -n to get the urls, (or is it -a ...) but that requires some technical know-how.

For free and legal videos, check out the Internet Archive. http://www.archive.org/details/moviesHuge repository of public domain and Creative Commons licensed goodies. When you find a video you want to watch, look on the left of the page for the Play/Download links - not the Streaming links. There are sometimes several choices for file format and speed, Mpeg4 is usually a good bet. Just copy the URL of the video file and use that in SL. It'll look something like this: http://ia310117.us.archive.org/2/items/DIA34/DIA34_256kb.mp4For free, legal streaming music you can try Magnatune. Lots of great independent artists: http://www.magnatune.com/info/second_life

Thanks for that. Excellent. One other thing. Am I wrong or are there "official" SL TV channels streamed live (using SL characters as TV presenters)? Does anyone know the URL's for those?

I have a radio stream, we want to add commercials about our sims, vendors and group events. I would like to have SL (in world) commercials and RL commercials. Can I stream any ones music?
