I have read throught all the threads and I have lowered my cashe to it's lowest setting and that gets me the farthest in loading the game but it still locks up on me. I let it run for an hr. after the lock and nothing happened. My machine is not even hitting my hardrive once it freezes. What people are telling me is that my machine hitting my drive like mad but I don't get even the slighest blink from the HD light.

Anyone got any ideas, and yes my machine specs is not the problem.
Any idea as to why would be great, thanks.

Really just saying your specs aren't the problem doesn't help. There is obviously some problem in one or more of the following catagories and their dealing with SL:

1) your hardware setup
2) your drivers
3) your SL setup
4) your software setup

To be able to help you we really need more information about what your system is. It could be a bug with some part of your hardware or software setup that needs to be fixed, but without knowing more details there is no way to assess the problem.

Ok heres the 411.

1. AMD athlon 1.5
2. 256 DDR
3. 40 gig HD divided into 3 partititions. I have a dual boot so there is 1 partitions for linux and the other two are divided into windows stuff such as word, windows media player and so on and the other is for games and software like winamp. SL is installed on the partition I use for my games.
4. Both partitions are NTFS (not that that matters much)
5. ATI Radeon 7500 64 MB DDR video card
6. Asus A7M266 AMD661 Athlon Palomino/Duron AktA DDR ATX motherboard with intagrated sound.

She is a labor of love. I know her inside and out. She may not be bleeding edge but she can handle everything I need her to.

Forgot to add that im running XP profesionsal. I have downloaded every windows update there is. I know I have the latest drivers because I only put this computer togher 2 weeks ago and I found the most up to date drivers that were out there.

*stabing in the dark*
I would say that the problem lies in the dual boot or the ATI card, other then that...???

I will chime in that dual boot should definatly have no effect. :p

A dual boot is invisible to XP.

Yep it's my card, well more specifically the drivers behind it.
I hope the next bata version will fix that cashe problem and be compatable with my driver (which is the latest one, go figure).

Unfortunately, the beta requirements specified an ATI Radeon 8000 or higher. Not be a nitpicker, but this is a beta, and hardware support is hard to come by...

Good luck, hopefully their ATI support will expand in future releases.
