ATI Radeon 2600XT 512 memory....crashing?????

Well, I have a fairly descent graphic card here but yet SL is just making it feel like it was $10.99 at Walmart. I average about 5 crashes per night. I have turned my settings down to all low due to the lag. I frequent Midian City and also adjust to their settings based on their lag reduce notecard. I have a pretty high-end pc and enough RAM as well. I have been told that with this card, I should have no problems. Also, I was told to turn my settings high with the card because I have a strong card and it should NOT be as laggy as I claim. I have turned my object setting to low with the SL graphic adjuster as well. Terrain is low and cache is 500 and the same for bandwidth and bandwith sometimes around 430 too. Wth? any suggestions??????

Lag may not be from the card... Only suggestion I can offer is about the crashes. Try Catalyst driver version 8.5 or 8.9. any one between those crashed me often.

Ok, i'll give it a try. BTW, have you tried other drivers like 8.1 and wouldn't download because you didn't have the hardware?

My card is a X1950Pro. I tried 8.6 when it came out and SL would not run for more than a few minutes, 8.7 the same and 8.8 was a little better but crashed every few hours. 8.5 and 8.9 I have never had a crash... I play about 4+ hours a day. 8.9 seems a little more jittery than 8.5 though but no crashes.

I run on HIGH setting which it defaults to and it runs good. It will work on Ultra with 2X anti alising but it is choppy. I only use that to take pics with.

Try the 8.9 first as that is the newest release.
