Hello.
I had some freinds that were ejected from a club last night and the land owner and manager claim that it was not them but that they had been hacked. The manager said something about hackers gaining levels and being able to get privs to do things like that. Anyone know anything about people being able ejects others from land they don't own or don't have group rights to?

/me doesn't buy it.
More likely the person who ejected your friend didn't own up to it or your friend was not actually ejected - possibly some griefer tool was used instead.

Are there griefer tools that can do ejections?
If there are that is a bad security problem.

If the land is group owned, and if you can rez prims, and if you can deed those to the group, then you could have a script in a deeded prim that acts as a relay to eject/ban anyone at will even though you don't have that ability assigned through group.
There are a few different related ways as well but they all come down to injecting a script into a prim (owned by the landowner), for example: if the land is owned by a specific avie then anyone who has been/was ever granted mod rights could have dropped a malicious script into any mod prim at any time.
It's possible there is an actual exploit, but in a lot of cases it's carelessness with handing out mod rights or not properly securing prims or groups.

edit: oh... Didn't know the deed trick, Kitty..
A 'real' eject, like when you right click on somebody and the option pops up in the pie (mmmm... pie...) menu to Eject/Ban? No. Not that I've heard of - only authorized people can do that.
Depending on the land settings, there may be scripted objects that can force somebody out of the area, though. Though that may meet the dictionary definition of the word eject, it's not a 'real' SL ejection.
If it's a club you guys enjoy, I wouldn't worry about it unless it happens again. If the owner of the place thinks that somebody has messed with their group settings, have them come by the forums or find a mentor and have them take a look at 'em..

Oooo.. I've never heard about that deed trick.
I'm still not sure I buy that that's what happened, though - gonna stick to my original story that somebody's not fessing up or that it was a normal (non-deeded) pushy script.

Hacked as in Person X gave his/her best-est best friend the passwort and the best-est best friend secretly did all sort of mischief?
