Noticed space was getting low on C: again, so I did some poking around, and found these in the SL cache directory: 01/06/2004 01:03 AM 138,261,992 data.db2.x.15602 01/01/2004 03:47 PM 1,048,576,001 data.db2.x.20278 12/31/2003 07:05 PM 1,048,576,001 data.db2.x.25349 01/04/2004 07:42 PM 189,364,583 data.db2.x.27251 01/04/2004 08:28 PM 50,188,972 data.db2.x.514 01/04/2004 08:40 PM 66,029,768 data.db2.x.5213 01/02/2004 09:26 PM 1,048,576,001 data.db2.x.67 01/06/2004 01:03 AM 78,540 index.db2.x.15602 01/01/2004 03:47 PM 338,062 index.db2.x.20278 12/31/2003 07:03 PM 264,418 index.db2.x.25349 01/04/2004 07:42 PM 102,646 index.db2.x.27251 01/04/2004 08:28 PM 26,452 index.db2.x.514 01/04/2004 08:40 PM 26,860 index.db2.x.5213 01/02/2004 09:26 PM 406,402 index.db2.x.67 Disk cache size is set to 1,000 MB. I think SL is leaving these behind when it crashes and then creating new ones.

I noticed this on my Mac when running both the alpha to get into 1.1, and the preview to get into 1.2.
Also may be related to crashes. Sure put a damper on my day to lose a gigabyte here and there.

SL does leave behind cache files sometimes if it crashes, and they can be large.
You can safely delete them when SL isn't running.

I wouldn't mind SL clearing the cache out entirely when it exits, even though I know this goes somewhat against the idea of the cache system in place, for me I run SL long enough that it would build 1GB of cache while playing, and that's all I really care for it to do.

Probably not si Money. However, there are a few bugs filed about cleaning up cache and temp file remenants that should help.

Does this mean I'll actually be able to fit a 500MB cache onto a disk with 600MB free?

Where exactly is the SL cache directory by default? I did a search for some of the files listed and a a partial search using wildcards and returned no results.
