Just a random question out of curiosity.........
Firstly.....
Any item appears to have a centre point (where the crosses appear to position it in x,y,z)
Is this central point, the point that COUNTS when it comes to deciding what's on your land or not?
Say for example, you are 500 m up in the air, and had a 10m long plank of wood that was on your land. 6m of which was on your floating block (which was the actual edge of your plot) and 4m of which was sticking out over the edge (like walking the plank in an old pirate film)
Basically you have a strip of wood overhanging someone elses land at 500m in the air.
(remember this is theoretical as I know we must all stay within our boundrys)
But do people do this?
At various heights I don't suppose anyone would notice if someone else had a small item overlapping their theoretical boundry.
Or would the fact that any part of one of your objects overlapped someone elses plot cause the item to be disalowed to be places there?
I ask as I'm sure I've seen some odd things in the sky where they perhaps should not be.

The X,Y,Z locations of any prims are read as being at the center for easy moving, locating, however each prim is made up of mathematical equations which are stored on the Sim Server, in the form of wireframe addresses, that create the 3d array of the SL world. In essecence, each prim knows its own boundary limits (size/shape), if you overhang a prim outside your parcel boundary and they have autoreturn enabled, it will return to the owner when the timer kicks in. To see this effect, go into Advanced menu, World and check Wireframe (do the same again to revert back to normal), you will see SL as the computer programme views everything.
Partial overlaps do not count in the prim count/allowance of your neighbour, but they wont be pleased as they do show up as being on their land.

Thanks for the reply. I was kind of expecting a "Shock, Horror, Burn them at the stake" response to my question That's why I tried to explain that it was something I was interested in knowing. Rather than interested in doing ! As I could see some people "trying it on" if you like in the sky if the exact external boundary of each item did not count, only the centre point. I know it can sometimes be a little tricky to get an item (of a not solid dimension size like 1mx1m) exactly on your boundry line. Whilst making a wall, on my boundry in the past, I have inched items to the nearest .001 to try and make sure I'm not overlapping anywhere. In fact I only helped a guy (my SL neighbour) out last night as he had put his house base within his boundry, but he had not realised his roof overhung the house base by about 0.25m to in effect his roof was in next doors plot a fraction.
