I know you can auction off land somehow but are there any places where you could auction off something you were only going to sell one or a few of? Like if I built a mansion or special build and wanted to sell it off to a lucky someone or group...

Why not create an event around it  Find some land to lay it on and have a weekend or something with set times to show it off...and someone to show it off. Then take notecards as bids and the one with the highest gets it Justa thought. |

There have been event auctions.... In fact, I went to an art auction yesterday.
The other option is to create a website.... somewhere in between SLexchange and Ebay

Im looking to start up a ebay style bidding system for items, but my MySql isn't up to scratch, if there is anyone out there that wants to help give me a shout  You could always just raffle off the item...? Or is that definitely not what you have in mind...? |

Or is that definitely not what you have in mind...? Setting up something like SL ebay would be extremely tough, you'd have to be beyond a website expert to do it. You may just want to start small where its a website, but all manually user operated instead of automatic like ebay... Something where people can simply post their item & picture, list the day the audtion closes, and people post what they want to pay. You could probably even start by doing this in a blog format. You don't really even need to start with user feedback or all the other ebay technicalities.... after time im sure it'll grow to where you want it to be... but to start I could see a simple post/respond/buy format working.
