I am hosting a Halloween Bash at the Wrong Way Cafe in Sami (199,216) on October 30th, the Sunday immediately preceding Halloween day, at 2pm. The details are as follows:

Short Story Collection: This is the focal point of the event. I am taking short story submissions (of a ghostly or otherwise "spooky" theme) to be included in a collection that will be given out at the event. There is no judgment involved since the point is to be inclusive and fun, so any and all submissions received will make it into the collection, unless of course your submission has absolutely nothing to do with the theme, or does but is full of hateful or explicit language, or is plagiarized (I will be checking, to the best of my ability). If you already have a story lying around, great! Otherwise, you can get crackin' and have something ready by the time of the event. Simply drop a notecard on me anytime up to October 29th, which is when I will stop accepting submissions.

Bonfire: Every Monday afternoon I hold poetry readings inside the cafe, but this time we will be outside in my itty-bitty backyard, where we will be seated on haybales around a crackling fire, conversing and reading poetry and/or telling ghost stories. Poetry of a spooky or Halloweenish nature is especially welcome, but do not feel limited in this regard. You can also bring along your favourites written by other people. Edgar Allen Poe would be an obvious choice!

Costume Contest: No Halloween Bash would be complete without one! Dress yourself to the nines (or the eights or the sevens, whatever your lucky number may be) and compete for cold hard Lindens!

First place - 1,000L
Second place - 500L
Third place - 250L

Winners are decided by IM voting.

And if I come up with any other ideas between now and then, or if you suggest something to me that might make this bash even more amazing (OMG how is that possible!?), they will be implemented.

If you plan on participating in the short story collection you have seventeen days to produce something. Short notice, I know, but hopefully the atmosphere of the coming holiday will inspire you (or if you are participating in Nanowrimo this year and are itching to write something before November 1st, you can consider this a warmup). Otherwise my event will be a flop and I will say it's all your fault, and then sue you for emotional damages.

I can't wait, and I hope to see you there, whoever you are!
