The second in a series of ongoing discussions regarding brain and behavior as adaptations to optimize reproductive success. This sounds far more dull than the 30 attendees of the first seminar found it to be.
The seminar series started with an introduction to the reasons why there should be sex differences in behavior at all. The second session will move from the theoretical underpinnings and into scientifically demonstrated differences in body sizes, metabolism, mating strategies, infidelity, and cuckoldry.
As this seminar concentrates on the non-technical "whys" rather than the complicated biological "hows" it is suitable for just about anyone who has looked at people and wondered why they do the things they do.
Presentation slides, bibliography, and fake margaritas will be provided to all attendees.

Thanks so much to all who attended last night; the crowd was larger, more diverse, and even more engaged than the first seminar. It has been said that people are the most fascinating things to people and this series is certainly showing that to be true. Last night's seminar generated even more good questions about why we are like we are; some of these will be addressed in seminar three. Others will be addressed in later seminars, but if we keep getting more good questions than we've been answering, this might never end.

We also got a number of "I really wish I was able to make the first one" statements from attendees last night so we'll be holding a repeat of seminars one and two at more Euro and work-friendly hours. Right now our best guess is a Saturday at 8am Linden Time (1600 GMT) but do let us know if you'd prefer otherwise so we can try to accommodate.
We have created the open, free group "Brain and Behavior Seminar" for those who are interested in getting IM reminders and - of course - we'll be putting events on the calendar as always.
The course materials, including slides, bibliography, and transcripts are available at each seminar or by contacting me. Please understand that the materials may not completely speak for themselves but they will certainly give you a taste of the seminar.
I do have one question of etiquette that I forgot about: I did not ask for explicit permission to transcript these open, public seminars so I don't think I'm violating anyone's privacy. However, if you'd like me to remove you from the transcripts, just let me know.
Many thanks to Chance Abattoir, Kate Hanks, and all the attendees without whom this would not have happened.
