Today I was trying to enter an event and I discovered -- it's been a while since I did this -- that you can no longer host an event unless you own more than 512 m^2 of land? Does anyone know what the rationale of this policy is? I can think of a couple but they are pretty cynical....

Your cynical ideas are probably closest to reality.

You're only allowed to post 5 events per day per parcel. This restriction was intended to reduce the possibility of gaming the event calendar by posting a different set of coordinates for each event.

By having a restriction of 512, it prevents someone just easily breaking up a bunch of 16m parcels of land to post more events.

Of course, if you already own a full sim, shaving off a 512 or four is no hardship at all. Gaming continues to be alive and well.

You asked ;)
